Fayetteville Man Arrested After Shot was Fired

Monday morning, Dec. 13, Sgt. Ron Naumann and Deputy Craig Martell along with multiple other Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a call of shots fired at a residence in the Ellinger area. On arrival it was found that a relative of the caller who also resides there had started a verbal altercation with the caller. The altercation continued to escalate with the subject damaging property in the residence. The caller stated that they retrieved a firearm in the residence and discharged a shot into the floor to startle the subject as they feared given prior history and incidents the subject would continue to escalate the altercation to the point of physical violence. While on scene, deputies found a firearm belonging to the subject that began the altercation, who was prohibited from possessing a firearm, along with marijuana.

Richard Keeton Jr. age 26, of Fayetteville was arrested and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
