Fayetteville ISD Staying Busy
The talent and artistry of Rick Rowley and Robert Clayton Sanders kept Fayetteville residents Wayne and Grace Fruge, Jerry Brown and this news reporter spellbound while recently attending a house concert at the La Grange home of Terri Ross, a former Fayetteville JP.
Rick Rowley, an acclaimed virtuoso and pianist, conductor and associate professor at the Butler School of Music at UT played on the square often. “We were very lucky to have him here. Sometimes he would play out on the sidewalk so we could raise funds at the Art Guild, now ARTS. We would just roll the piano out there,” commented Terri Ross. “He played at St. Paul Lutheran. He is my absolute favorite,” added Grace Fruge.
A child prodigy on the piano, Robert Clayton Sanders has performed in jazz, R&B and classical genres for the last 60 years. He’s entertained audiences in Fayetteville over the years and will hopeful continue in his annual Labor Day Jazz Jam. “He’s played with some of the other jazz greats all over the world and I loved hearing about his incredible experiences,” stated Cindy Stephens.
School News
Fayetteville ISD has updated its Return to Learn Safety Guidelines. Effective immediately, staff and students who tested positive for COVID may return to school once the following conditions are met:
• At least one day (24 hours) with no fever since recovery, without the use of fever-reducing medications (a fever is 100.0° F or above)
• Individual has improvement in symptoms such as a cough and shortness of breath
• At least five days have passed since symptoms first appeared
• The individual must test negative no earlier than day six to return
Renovations continue on the historic “red building.” The next milestone will be the installation of new energy-efficient windows.
“Snow Day”
Kindergartners had a fun “snow” day.
Reminder that the FISD students of Floral Design teacher Holly Krebs are selling floral designs to raise funds to keep expanding their classroom experiences. Her classes will be promoting their projects/arrangements through social media.
