Fayetteville Gets Sidewalk Improvements
Phase 1 of the sidewalk improvement project has been completed. Bids are out for Phase 2. Requests for erecting additional ADA compliant ramps and handrails are being considered in this second phase. In addition, discussions are underway regarding crosswalks potentially located in front of Dybala’s, the Red & White Gallery and the future home of the Yonder Way Farm to Market store. The project is scheduled for completion on Dec. 31.
Shared Lutheran Ministry
St. John’s in Warrenton, is hosti a Fun Night on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m. There’s a potluck meal at 6 p.m. followed by games and socializing. All are welcome to join in.
Help Local Teachers
SLM is assisting local teachers with their supply purchases, so please bring crayons, pens, markers, Sharpies, Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, notebook paper or folders to the event. St. Mary’s Feast
The annual St. Mary’s Bazaar is this Sunday, Aug 22 and features an online auction that’s already live (www.stmaryellinger.com). Click on “Online Auction Raffle Drive-Thru Meal.” Over 80 items will be auctioned off. Winning bidders may pick up their items in Fayetteville at St. John’s parish hall from 9-9:30 a.m. For auction questions, call Sue Zapalac (979) 249-7570 at the parish office.

Ms. Texas America Pageant
Patty Wells thoroughly enjoyed her experience as a contestant in the Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant held last month in Dallas. The pageant advocates healthy aging, mental well-being and wellness. “It was one of the most inspirational events I’ve experienced,” stated Wells. “All the participants are intelligent, strong women who embrace their age proudly.”
The contestants, aged between 60 and 94, went through evening gown, interview and talent rounds. Wells choreographed and performed a powerfully physical acrobatic dance.
Mobile Food Pantry
Look for the Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry to be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church at FM1291 and FM2145 this Friday, August 20 from 10–11 a.m. Drive-thru only. Someone will direct traffic. Please remain in your car and make room inside your trunks or truck beds for the prepackaged food boxes. Volunteers will load you up. All clients and volunteers are urged to wear face masks and to social distance.
