Fayetteville Celebrates Baseball & Other Milestones
A jam-packed, siren-blaring victory celebration took place on the square Thursday, June 10 at 6 pm. just a few hours after our Fayetteville Lions became Texas 1A High School Baseball State Champions that afternoon. Amid cheers and speeches by the coaches and players, the team (starters include: four freshman, three sophomores and two seniors) led by Coach Clint Jaeger and Assistant Coach Marcus Sodek, were honored for bringing home the gold. This is Fayetteville’s eighth tournament appearance.
65th Wedding Anniversary
A small group of friends and relatives were hosted by Maryann and Clovis Heimsath on Saturday, June 5 at the Grand Fayette Hotel to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. The Heimsaths previously owned and operated the hotel when it was known as The Country Place Hotel, which they founded. At the celebration, Maryann shared photos from their wedding in New York State. The Heimsaths currently live right on Fayetteville’s Historic Square.
Yonder Way Preps for Move
Preparations are still underway in the move by Yonder Way Farm to their new farm-to-market retail space in the old Gulf Station. Painting has just been completed and all their favorite goods and housewares are being set up for sale. Jason and Lynsey Kramer and their four girls run Yonder Way Farm, located just down the road from the square on FM 1291.
Flag Retirement Ceremony
An annual ceremony takes place at American Legion Post Shelby 602 on Flag Day to properly honor unserviceable “Flags of our Country.” Flags gathered from the community are “retired” in an official ceremony when colors become worn, faded or tattered. They’re formally presented for inspection and disposal and destroyed by burning while all members stand at attention. Clerical Endowment Fund
Father’s Day and birthdays are great occasions to honor your loved ones with a Clerical Endowment Fund (CEF) card from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. These cards help to pay for the education of seminarians and make funds available for churches to borrow from for their growing needs. Central Texas Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church this Friday, June 18 from 10-11 a.m. The church is located at the junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145. Drive-thru only. Someone will direct traffic. Please remain in your car and make room inside your trunks or truck beds for the prepackaged food boxes. These are placed into each vehicle by volunteers. All clients and volunteers are required to wear face masks and to social distance.
KC Barbecue
The Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus are serving up a large butterflied chicken, sausage links and a rack of pork ribs on Father’s Day, this Sunday. Place your order by calling (979) 249-6003 and pick up at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Hall barbeque pits at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The CDA will have side dishes available. Cash or checks accepted.
