Fayetteville Antiques On the Square Event Begins Next Week
City of Fayetteville Sewer Bill
The City of Fayetteville will average the sewer bill using the months of December and January only, providing residents a break from a higher base rate due to the freeze. February’s usage won’t be included in the averaging as it has been in the past.
Volunteers Needed
Terri Hefner, Elections Administrator for Fayette County, is currently seeking volunteers for our city election on election day, May 1. Volunteers are needed to check in voters, issue and count ballots. Fayetteville Action Committee
Update from the Fayetteville Action Committee: Judge Joe Weber, County Commissioner Precinct II Luke Sternadel, Fayetteville Council member Neal Doty and Fayetteville Action Committee member Cade Burks met to discuss issues around the excessive gravel truck traffic through Fayetteville. Judge Weber developed an approach to improve the situation of gravel trucks traveling through Fayetteville headed back and forth to Houston. The Fayetteville National Historic District comprises 153 acres, including 345 contributing buildings listed as historic sites, and this is one of the largest historic districts in Texas. The common goal is to keep the culture and historical preservation intact while supporting the businesses that contribute to Fayette County’s economy.
EMS Quarters Renovations
As part of the EMS quarters renovation in the city community center, two new recliners (funded by the Fall Turkey Dinner) were provided last week. The old recliners were donated to another EMS unit. This year, all the swing arm wall lamps and wall outlets were replaced. Over the last two years, the EMS quarters have been repainted, insulated and all plumbing fixtures replaced.
Gilbert Gerik Benefit
Don’t forget. The benefit for Gilbert Gerik is coming up at the SBJST Hall this Saturday, March 20. All proceeds go toward medical expenses. A gun raffle, bucket raffle, bake sale and other festivities begin at 10 a.m. A $100 entry fee will get you into the BBQ cook-off and $25 will get you into the jackpot beans cookoff. Trophies to the winners. Dancing runs from 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. Call Melinda at (979) 820-8793 with any questions.
