Fayette Electric Warns Of Scam Phone Calls
Fayette Electric Cooperative is urging caution this week after one of its members was recently targeted in a phone scam. The fraudulent caller claimed to be from Fayette Electric Cooperative.
The scammer told the member that they owe money and that their power would be disconnected if immediate payment was not made over the phone.
Fayette Electric reminds its members that a secondary notice is mailed to inform members of their delinquent accounts. The Cooperative will not call and demand immediate payment by phone and will not ask for a Green Dot card or your banking information.
If you should receive a suspicious call stating you will be disconnected or demanding immediate payment, hang up and call Fayette Electric Cooperative at (979) 968-3181 to verify the balance on your account and report the details of the call.
