Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Burglary In Plum

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of February.

Deputy Ben Wilson investigated an accident on State Highway 71 where a vehicle struck the guardrail. No injuries were reported.

Investigator Marc Bennett took a theft report of approximately four hundred gallons of farm diesel. Bennett also spoke to a complainant that received two credit cards in the mail from an Idaho credit union. The complainant was informed to contact Idaho authorities.

Sergeant Ron Naumann took possession of three dogs from the area of Cozy Corner Road. The owner of the dogs was unable to get to the animals and care for them due to the wintery weather. The owner surrendered the dogs to the animal shelter for adoption.

Sergeant Investigator Angela Lala is currently investigating the alleged allegation of sexual abuse of a fourteen year old girl and an eighteen year old boy in the Carmine area.

Sergeant Charles Jobb took a report of mailbox damage on Jackson Road where a vehicle left the roadway, struck a mailbox and brush line. Evidence left at the scene indicates the vehicle involved would be a Dodge truck. Jobb also responded to a structure fire of a small residence on Turkey Creek Road in the Ledbetter area. The fire was extinguished by the Ledbetter and Carmine Fire Departments.

Deputy Terry Guentert responded to a residence near the Muldoon area for a disturbance between a male and female over custody of a child. The incident was resolved and the parties separated.

Deputy AJ Gonzales attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 10 near the 670 mile marker. The vehicle fled and left the roadway. The vehicle was later found abandoned off the roadway and in a wooded area. Gonzales also responded to a suspicious person walking along State Highway 71 near the Kirtley area. The male was located, found in possession of methamphetamines, and arrested.

Deputy Herman Olvera stopped the driver of a vehicle towing a trailer on Interstate 10 without trailer lighting. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. Olvera also responded to a traffic accident on Interstate 10 where the driver of one vehicle was assaulted by the other driver and the suspect in this case left the scene. A suspect was identified and charges are pending.

Deputy Darrell Maze responded to a residence off of US Highway 77 where an elderly male was ill. While on scene the male stopped breathing and lifesaving efforts were rendered by Maze until medics arrived.

Deputy Rick Martell responded to a disturbance and while on scene located drug paraphernalia. Evidence was collected and sent to the DPS Lab for testing. A warrant will be issued pending results of the lab tests for the type of narcotic identified. Martell also responded to a structure fire where a home was a total lose. No injuries occurred and the fire was caused from a wood burning stove.

Deputy Joe Gonzales took a report of a burglary which occurred on a residence off of State Loop 220. Numerous items were taken and the case is currently under investigation. Gonzales also worked a case of property damage on State loop 220 where damaged was caused to an entrance of property from large trucks turning around in the driveway. Gonzales made contact with a nearby company about the truck traffic and possible leads to the driver causing the damage.

Deputy Michael Krenek investigated a domestic disturbance in the Flatonia area between a male and female. The male was charged with assault and a trespass warning was issued.

Deputy Tammy McCleney responded to a call of a suicidal person making an outcry on Facebook that he was going to end his life. The male was located and taken to a local treatment facility.

Deputy Jarred Michalec responded to a disturbance in the La Grange area where a female was asked to leave the property. Based on the living situation the complainant was advised that an eviction would need to be filed. Michalec also responded to another disturbance where a physical altercation occurred between a male and female. Charges are pending against the male for assault.

Deputy Seth Nagel stopped the driver of a vehicle on Country Club Drive for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for a warrant out of Louisiana. Nagel also worked an accident on US Hwy 290 where a vehicle rolled over. No injuries were reported.

Deputy Orlando Buitron responded to a residence in the Flatonia area where a structure fire occurred. The fire was caused by an appliance. Buitron also responded to the Warrenton area near Cole’s Antiques for a suspicious person. The person was located and arrested for public intoxication.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 32 individuals for the month of February and transported one individual to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
