Family Friendly Oktoberfest in Warda
Faith Lutheran High School will be hosting a family friendly Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Holy Cross Picnic Grounds.
They will have a German meal consisting of brats, kraut, green beans, noodles, bread and coffee cake for dessert. The meal will be served both dine in and to go from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Meal tickets are $12 and are pre-sale only. Tickets can be purchased at the church office or by contacting FLHS at (979) 242-2889.
Music by CK the DJ will be playing through 3 p.m. A silent auction will be available for bidding until 1:30 p.m. Children’s games and activities will begin at 1 p.m. and include bounce house, face painting, photo backdrop, pumpkin painting and more! Domino and corn hole tournaments will begin at 2 p.m.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the day. If you have items to donate to the silent auction, contact the school or church office.
FLHS will also be hosting a 7th and 8th grade game night on Friday. Oct. 8 from 6-9 p.m.
Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Service held each Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
South Lee County VFD
South Lee County VFD will have BBQ chickens and sides at the Serbin Picnic Grounds on Sunday, Oct. 31. Pick-up will be from 10 a.m.-noon. You can call the church office to place your order at (979) 242-3333.
Pumpkin Patch
It’s starting to slowly feel like fall around here; some days more than others. Now is a great time to plan your visit to the pumpkin patch. The Lee County Christmas Tree Farm is hosting a family friendly pumpkin patch two weekends in October. There will be wonderful photo opportunities, a hayride and playground. There is no charge for this event. The Pumpkin Patch and activities will be open Oct. 16-17 and Oct. 23-24. Christmas at Tejas Camp
Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be open to the public this year for Christmas Dec. 10-12 from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. They are offering packages for $29 a person that will include lights, climbing wall, zip line, crate stacking, three-person swing, bounce house and fireworks. They also have VIP packages available for $43 per person that includes the above activities plus dinner, smores kit, hot chocolate and a DIY craft. More information can be found at www.mytejas.org

Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
Mission Sunday will be observed on Sunday October 10. U.S. Air Force Chaplain Lt. Col. Timothy S. Rosenthal will be the guest speaker. Chaplain Rosenthal was commissioned as a chaplain in the USAF in August of 1999 and was ordained into the ministry of LCMS on June 12, 1988. He served as a pastor for three congregations in Texas prior to entering the Air Force. Chaplain Rosenthal holds a doctorate and four masters degrees in the disciplines of theology, music and military studies. Though he has traveled all over the world, Chaplain Rosenthal is currently based out of Sheppard AFB near Wichita Falls. Everyone is invited at come and hear Chaplain Rosenthal.

Sewing Circle
The sewing circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to join this group. You do not have to be a member of Holy Cross to join.
