Fall Antique Show Opens Oct. 14

Flag Retirement Ceremony
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce and Fire Department invites you to a Flag Retirement Ceremony during the annual Carmine Night Out, Thursday, Oct. 7 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Fire Station. Polka Praise Service
You are invited to the Bethlehem Lutheran (Round Top)’s rousing Polka Praise service and their annual “Chicken Fry” fundraiser at the Round Top Rifle Hall on Sunday, Oct. 10. The Polka Praise service, consisting of musicians from both BLC and Martin Luther Lutheran, will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held under the pavilion in front of the Hall (weather permitting), and the Chicken Fry dinner with all the trimmings will begin at 11 a.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Round Top Mercantile, as well as the church office (979) 249-3686, for $12 each.

Monday Night Social
The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Social takes place on the first through fourth Mondays of the month from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Second Saturdays at Winedale
Second Saturdays at Winedale are back. The second Saturday of each month the Lewis-Wagner House will be open for free tours from 12-3 p.m. Winedale is searching for volunteers to give house tours. There is no obligation as to how many hours or days you work. You just need to have a love of history and the desire to work with the public.
Historical Society
The Round Top Area Historical Society museum would like to invite you to learn the rich colorful history of Round Top, Texas. The museum is located at 397 E. Mill St. in Round Top, behind the Round Top Post Office. Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life regular monthly meeting was held on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall near Round Top. President, Lila Garlin, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Contribution to the Ledbetter Fire Department for their feast to be held on Oct. 2 has been sent. New members were Jett Lane Jacob, Ricky Lee Sanchez and River Blake Danford. Correspondence was a “thank you” letter from the Blinn College foundation for the donation to the Carol Jean Hackemack Harper endowed scholarship fund.
Agent, Linda Mattocks, explained how everything online is encrypted for security. The convention, which is held every four years, is scheduled for 2022.
No meeting will be held in October due to the antique show. The next meeting will be November 18. The Christmas party will be held Sunday, Dec. 12 beginning at 11 a.m., with a catered meal of chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, California blend, and slaw. Afternoon entertainment will be the game “Rob Your Neighbor” and each participant is asked to bring a gift under $15.
Donations to CASA’s “Make a Difference Day” can be dropped-off at Round Top Real Estate, or brought to the November meeting.
Happy birthday was sung to Jeanette Schoenst, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 1. Attendance prizes were won by Jocie Braun, Leonard Meinkowsky, Dwight Nitsche, Linda Mattocks, and Bob Porter.
Thank you to the outgoing serving committee of Mary and Melanie Rauch, Rob and Betty Porter, and Sedalia Ullrich. The next committee will be Orville and JoNell Glaesmann, Leonard and Mert Meinkowsky, and Jeanette Schoenst. Refreshments, lunch and fellowship followed.
