Ellinger Youth Participate In Heifer Show
The Fayette County Fair Commercial Heifer Show was held Friday, Aug. 28 and the sale was held on Saturday, Aug. 29. The event took place at the Fayette County Fair Grounds. Approximately 150 heifers were exhibited by local youth.
Kandon Kasper won third place with his pen of one heifer out of 80 entries. He also won first place Junior Interview/record book, second place Junior Cattleman Quiz, and this resulted in him being overall Grand Champion Junior Exhibitor.
Rheagan Karisch also participated in the event. She exhibited the Grand Champion Halter Heifer-Polly a full blooded registered beefmaster. Additionally she placed second in the interview/record book competition, and second in salesmanship. Thus she was the overall high point intermediate Champion Exhibitor. Rheagan also showed a pen of one heifer.
SLM 20th Anniversary
The Shared Lutheran Ministry will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the SLM Sunday, Sept. 12. The celebration will include a joint polka worship at the SPJST hall in Fayetteville and a catered meal will be served; tickets for the event are currently on sale. This will also be a farewell gathering for Pastor Marcia Kifer who is retiring and moving to North Carolina. On Oct. 3 Ellinger and Rutersville will be having breakfast church at regular worship times.
SLM Fun Nights
SLM Fun Nights with potluck have been scheduled. They will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month, rotating between the four churches. Gathering and social time will be from 5:30-6 p.m., the meal at 6 p.m., and games, social time, a special focus or craft, etc. at about 6:30 p.m.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Ellinger C of C
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Ellinger Community Center at 7 p.m. The next Bingo has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11.
Ellinger VFD
The Ellinger VFD held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 1, and it will drill on Wednesday, Sept. 15. The Ellinger VFD responded to an accident near State Hwy 71 and Zapalac Road on Monday, Aug. 30. It has been very hot and the lawns and pastures have gotten dry and crisp. Please be careful with outdoor burning.
