Ellinger VFD Planning Annual Feast and Fundraiser
The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department is planning its Annual Feast and Fundraiser. It has been scheduled for Sunday, April 25. There will be a BBQ chicken and sausage lunch served with all the trimmings. No walk ups will be allowed. It will be drive-thru only. Additionally there will be a live auction held outdoors under the pavilion. Currently firemen are selling tickets for the raffle. Contact them early because they usually sell out fast Posters and other notifications will be forthcoming to inform the public of the changes in this year’s event
Junior Livestock Show and Sale
The Fayette County Junior Livestock Show and Sale are right around the corner. The opening for the event is 8 a.m. on Friday, March 26, at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The broiler show gets underway at 9 a.m. followed by the lamb show at 10 a.m. immediately followed by the goat show. The steer show is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be followed by the heifer show. Ag mechanics is scheduled for 3 p.m., the rabbit show is at 4 p.m., and the swine show is scheduled for 5 p.m. On Saturday, March 27, buyer registration is scheduled for 1 p.m., heifer review is at 2 p.m., and the sale gets underway at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited to the Fairgrounds to view the exhibits and support the youth of our county. Two Ellinger youths will be participating in this year’s show. Brylee Brugger will be showing lambs and Rheagan Karisch will be showing a steer and heifers.
SLM Lenten Services
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County (SLM) has scheduled mid week Lenten services. The theme this year is “Convicted.” Each week a different character from Jesus’s life will be put on trial as the prosecuting and defense attorneys make their cases. The congregations will be the jury. Worship will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays; no soup suppers will be held this year. The rotation for the joint SLM mid week worship is as follows: March 10-Warrenton; March 17-Ellinger; March 24-Fayetteville; Maundy Thursday, April 1-Rutersville; Good Friday-April 2 at 2 p.m.-Fayetteville. Phil Oestreich, will be live streaming/recording the services and uploading them to Facebook and You Tube for those wishing to participate from home.
SLM Palm Sunday Service
On Palm Sunday, March 28, the SLM plans to hold a joint parking lot worship at 9 a.m. at Rutersville. There will be a reading of the Passion of Jesus from the Bible, distribution of Psalms, and Holy Communion.
Easter Worship
April 4 is Easter. Festive Easter worship has been planned for all four SLM congregations and will include Holy Communion: Ellinger-8 a.m.; Warrenton-8:30 a.m.; Rutersville-10 a.m.; Fayetteville-10:30 a.m. All are welcome. Services will also be broadcast at noon on KTIM radio and on YouTube and FB, as usual.
SLM Council Retreat
The SLM — Shared Lutheran Ministry council held a retreat on Saturday, March 6 at the Rutersville Fellowship Hall. The teams took a look at the 360 results and made plans for future ministries. The councils also discussed the impact of the governor’s lifting of the mask mandate for the four congregations. Each council made decisions for their congregations about how to move forward with services and activities.
SLM Sunday School
The SLM held Sunday School on Sunday, March 7 from 3-5 p.m. The kids learned about the superhero Peter-also known as the “Fisher Man.” The lessons were interactive, engaging, while teaching essential Bible stories. Attending from Ellinger were Brylee Brugger, Emma Hall, and Rilan Karisch.
SLM Council Meeting
The Shared Lutheran Ministry Council will meet on Tuesday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Warrenton. The congregations will also meet, but at 6:30 p.m.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturday’s of each month. Other services are at Industry Brethren — parking lot services on the second, third and fourth Saturday’s at 3 p.m.; in-person services are at Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Monday, March 15 at the Ellinger Fire Station at 6 p.m. For more information you may contact Diane Marusik.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is planning a city wide garage sale in Ellinger on Saturday, April 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Call Miranda for more details or go to the website: www.ellingerte:cas.com.
Paint and Sip Social
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a ladies “Paint and Sip Social” on Sunday, March 14 at the Ellinger Community Center-Dining Hall. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. The cost will be $30 per person and will include paint supplies and snacks. You are asked to bring your own beverages or a cash bar will be available. City ofEllinger Meeting
The City of Ellinger holds a meeting on the last Thursday of each month at the Ellinger Community Center Dining Hall. The next meeting is scheduled for March 25.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation has issued a Water Conservation Notice. Production testing began at the new well site on Tuesday, March 9-10. This means the city will be served by the older, lower producing well. Members are reminded to sign up for corporation alerts if they have not already done so. The corporation also has a website.
