Ellinger Kids Win at Fayette County Fair

Rheagan Karisch had a very successful week at the 2021 Fayette County Fair. She had the Champion American Heifer, Champion Commercial Heifer, five class winners in the heifer show, and overall Champion Heifer. Additionally she won Best of Department in the Photography division, blue ribbon photo, Division Champions with her cake and divinity, Champion Halter Commercial Heifer, and overall Intermediate Commercial Heifer Exhibitor.

Not to be outdone by big sister, Rilan Karisch also had an awesome week. On Thursday evening he concluded his reign as the Little Mister for 2020 and assisted in handing out awards to the new court. He got to ride the Fayette County Fair Float in the parade on Saturday also. He won Best of Department with his dewberry pie, a blue ribbon for his Honey Hunt Cookies, Champion in the Bucket Calf Costume Contest (he portrayed Coach Jimbo Fischer and his calf was Reveille), he placed fifth with his bucket calf, won second place/best information bucket calf record book, and a he won a blue ribbon in the photography class. Carissa Karisch won Best of Department in the adult photography division, and Dad, Brandon Karisch won first place (again) in the “Old Timers Showmanship” at the Heifer show on Sunday, Sept. 5.

SLM 20th Anniversary

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County has planned its 20th Anniversary Celebration/Farewell to Pastor Marcia Kifer. It will be held on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the SPJST Hall in Fayetteville. The day will kick off with a polka worship at 10 a.m. with St. Paul Praise Team and SLM musicians. The theme will be “Living Stones, Building on a Firm Foundation.” A catered lunch of chicken fried pork and fixings will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 11:30 a.m. the cake walk and silent auction get underway. Additionally there will be a live auction with five items- one from each congregation of the SLM, and one from Pastor Maria. Lee Fritsch will be the auctioneer. The SLM cookbooks will be on sale for $20.

Radio and Online Services

The Worship and Music Team plans to continue offering radio and online services. Pastor Marcia will record sermons for all of September before she leaves. The interim should be on board by then. Pastor Tracey Breashears-Schultz, a Bishop’s Associate, will lead worship on Sept. 19 in Ellinger and Rutersville and on Sept. 26 in Fayetteville and Warrenton. She will be outlining the interim/call process with the four congregations at this time. Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Jen Kindsvatter have both agreed to be supply pastors during the interim. Breakfast Church will be an option on several occasions. KTIM radio, 89.1 FM, will continue to broadcast the worship services.

SLM Fun Nights

Additionally SLM Fun Nights with potluck have been scheduled. They will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month, rotating between the four churches. Gathering and social time will be from 5:30- 6 p.m., the meal at 6 p.m., and games, social time, a special focus or craft, etc. at about 6:30 p.m. this month the SLM will be gathering at St. John Lutheran in Ellinger-Sept. 22. There will be games and fun for all. Also bring canned soup, stew, or chili to be given to AMEN.

St. John Lutheran Church

St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger’s Council met in August. The minutes and treasurer’s reports for June and July were approved. Renovations to the bathroom have been completed and handicap signs have been placed. The congregation will purchase a BBQ pit for the live auction at the 20th anniversary. Refreshments were served on Aug. 29; pastor Marcia’s last Sunday with the congregation. On Oct. 3, Ellinger will be having breakfast church; breakfast will be provided by the Council. Plans are in the making for the annual Roast Beef Fundraiser scheduled for Oct. 10.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m.

Ellinger Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Ellinger C of C

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the Ellinger Community Center at 7 p.m.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce has scheduled Bingo for Saturday, Sept. 11. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the games get underway at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center . They will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, desserts, and cold refreshments. There will be two $500 jackpots and fifteen regular bingo games with a $100 payout for each game. Make plans to attend.
