Ellinger Hit Hard with Severe Weather Friday
It seems Fayette County is getting above average rainfall this spring. Friday evening Ellinger was hit by very high winds and a downpour dumping 3.7 inches of rainfall in a short while. Numerous trees and limbs were blown down, and streets and lawns were quickly flooded. Weather channels even indicated that a tornado might be headed to the Ellinger Community.
The Ellinger Tomato Festival was in progress and cookers were moved onto Grover St. Citizens were out and about early Saturday morning removing debris and cutting trees that had fallen across roadways. According to my records my yard and pasture received 23.8 inches from May 17-31.
