Ellinger Chamber Preps For 84th Tomato Festival
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is busy getting ready for its 84th Annual Tomato Festival scheduled for Sunday, May 30 at the Ellinger Communtiy Center.
There will be a drive thru Chamber fried chicken and sausage meal with all the trimmings. Plates may be picked up starting at 10:30 a.m. for $12.00 per plate. A Bar-B-Que Cook Off has also been scheduled. On Friday, May 28, there will be a Chef’s Choice Entrée, Dessert, salsa and chips competition.
On Saturday, May 29, contestants will be competing for cash prizes for best brisket, pork ribs, pork butts, chicken, and pinto beans. There will be live music, raffles, and an auction. Additionally there will be a Chopped Challenge---secret ingredients, local celebrity judges and live final showdown. Preregistration is required.

Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
St. John Lutheran Church
St. John Lutheran Church of Rutersville will be sponsoring a fundraiser on Saturday, May 8. This Community Gathering will be at the Herman Sons Hall in Rutersville.Serving will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and they will be accepting a free will offering. The menu consists of chicken fried pork steak, buttered noodles, cream gravy, coleslaw, applesauce, desserts, and tea or coffee. Beer and wine will also be available. Tables will be set up outside; games of dominoes, washers, corn hole, and other children’s games will be available.
SLM Council
The Shared Lutheran Ministry Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Fayetteville on Tuesday, May 18. The Congregation of Councils will meet at 6:30 p.m.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Rain
The Ellinger community received a good rain the end of April through May 1. I recorded 6.7 inches. Yards and pastures were full of heavenly water and lawns and gardens are thriving.
