Ellinger Chamber Announces Halloween Costume Contest Winners
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Halloween Costume Contest in conjunction with the Saturday night Bingo on Oct. 30. Winners in group one were: Carol Bigottfirst place, Billy Niesner-second place, and Staci Brugger-third place; group two: Bradley Dunk-first place, Kelsey Wachsmann-second place, and Robert Natal-third place; group three: Kloe Noska-first place, David Fischer-second place, and Reeanna Ramirez-third place.
SLM Joint Worship Service
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County will hold a joint worship service on Sunday, Nov. 7 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger. Worship will be held at 10 a.m. on this All Saints Sunday. On Nov. 23 there will be a joint thanksgiving worship service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Johns in Warrenton, and on Nov. 28, Warrenton and Fayetteville congregations will have “Breakfast Church.”
41st Annual Turkey Stew
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville will be sponsoring its 41st Annual Turkey Stew and Bake Sale Fundraiser. The drive thru meal may be picked up at the old fire station on the square. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. The cost will be $8 per quart or $30 per gallon. Quart size to go cups will be available.
St. John Lutheran Council
The Council of St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger met on Oct. 19 in Rutersville. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were presented and approved. Council approved the purchase of a red banner and new candle shells and disposable oil tubes. Additionally Gladys will paint the trim and door of the restrooms. A general cleaning will be scheduled prior to the Nov. 7 Joint worship. It was noted that a cleaning expense will be added to the 2022 budget. Advent décor will need to be in place before Dec. 5. The next Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Warrenton.
Ellinger C of C Bingo
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be holding Bingo again on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and refreshments and food will be sold; hamburgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and much more. Games begin at 6 p.m. There will be fifteen regular games with $100 prizes. Additionally there will be two $500 jackpot games.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Facebook page.
Ellinger VFD
The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Dept. was dispatched around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31 to assist the La Grange Fire Dept. with several structure fires off of Camp Lone Star Rd. Also assisting with the large conflagration was the Schulenburg VFD. The Ellinger firemen returned to the Ellinger station at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. It will get underway at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Deer Hunting Begins
Good luck to all the deer hunters in the area; whitetail deer season opens on Saturday, Nov. 6. Remember to practice gun safety.
