Ellinger Bingo Saturday; SLM Holding Joint Thanksgiving Worship Service
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be holding its final Bingo of 2021 on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and refreshments and food will be sold; hamburgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and much more. Games begin at 6 p.m. There will be fifteen regular games with $100 prizes. Additionally there will be two $500 jackpot games.
Joint Thanksgiving Service
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County will hold a, joint thanksgiving worship service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Johns in Warrenton on Nov. 23 and on Nov. 28, Warrenton and Fayetteville congregations will have “Breakfast Church.”
Turkey Stew and Bake Sale
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville will be sponsoring its 41st Annual Turkey Stew and Bake Sale Fundraiser. The Drive thru meal may be picked up at the old fire station on the square. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. The cost will be $8 per quart or $30 per gallon. Quart size to go cups will be available.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Corporation held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 8 at the Ellinger Fire Station. Greg Hunger, president, called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. All seven directors were present along with two Inframark reps, the Ellinger Mayor, and three guests.
The minutes from the regular October meeting were presented as well as the minutes from a special meeting held on Oct. 25 Both were approved as presented. The purpose of the special meeting was to approve two contracts from Weishuhn Engineering out of Columbus. Both contracts were in regards to the Texas Water Development contract and the Storage Tank project.
James Weishuhn also informed the Board of correspondence he will be sending to the EPA in regards to the arsenic noncompliance issue. Weishuhn’s letter will state that the filtration project will not be complete in 2021, but should be completed by the end of 2022. Next Ciara Craig presented the manager’s report. Expenses included $3000 for basic operations, $292.08 for WWTP maintenance, $18.54 – lift station maintenance, $242.53- water line maintenance, and $3299.22 for administrative duties, for a total of $6852.37. Her report showed 955 gallons of water produced, 725 gallons billed during the cycle, and 927 gallons totaled accounted for water. Thus the monthly water accountability was at 96%. The Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) was compliant in all areas. There were however some issues at the WWTP and Electric Motor Service trouble shooted the generator, and JAH Con Services performed effluent flow meter calibrations. JAH Con also performed water well flow meter calibrations. Additionally Electric Motor Services was called out to de-rag lift station no. 1.
Residents are urged to not flush paper products other than toilet paper since they clog the pumps and cost the Corporation money. Hess Landscaping repaired a couple of water leaks, installed a new PVC curb stop and water meter, and installed a new sewer tap. Craig reported that the billing cycle should be back on track by December and the Board will implement late fees, payment plans, and disconnection for nonpayment in January of 2022. Information regarding this will be included on the December billing statement. Weishuhn Engineering compiled a 44 page Water Conservation Plan which will be sent to the TWDB. The plan includes five year goals, ten year goals, and evaluation for best water practices. The financial report was
The financial report was presented and approved. The final payments for the water well project have been made and the Board will decide at the December meeting what to do with the extra funds. Matt Mikulenka, Ellinger Mayor and EWS project manager, gave a brief update on project funding. He noted that he and several board members recently met with Weishuhn Engineering to scope out the filtration system and water storage tank site. Bids for the storage tank project will be submitted in early November and TWDB will review plans to get the project underway. The Board had a lengthy discussion on membership/tariff issues, but no action was taken. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 13.
