DWI Charge for Man Who Fell Asleep At Fast Food Drive-Thru, Wrecked

La Grange Police arrested a Weimar man for DWI after he fell asleep in a restaurant drivethrough and lost control of his vehicle.

According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, the incident happened around 10:50 p.m. last Thursday, Jan. 25. The report said 43-yearold Cedric Devone Ward of Weimar fell asleep while waiting at the drive-through window of Golden Chick Restaurant, located at 312 E. Travis Street. Ward was driving a black 2015 Nissan Altima.

The report said the Altima left the drive-through and went across Travis Street. The vehicle crashed into the wrought iron fence in front of the historic Bradshaw-Killough home. The Nissan suffered minor damage to the front end.

La Grange Police Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell investigated the accident and arrested Ward for driving while intoxicated second offense.
