DWI Arrest Made Monday in Rutersville

A man from Houston was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a crash on SH 159 near Rutersville Monday night.

The wreck happened around 11:20 p.m. on March 22 on SH 159 near the intersection of SH 237. A report from DPS Trooper Mason Hartnett said 58-year-old Oliver Brown of Houston was driving a black Lincoln Towncar southwest on SH 159 and approached a right hand curve in the roadway.

The report said the Towncar veered into the northeast lane, overcorrected and began a side-skid. The car entered the ditch and began spinning out of control. The car struck a barbed wire fence with its left side. The car came to rest entangled in the fence facing northeast.

A passenger, 62-year-old James Edward Nicks, was also in the vehicle. Neither man was injured. Hartnett cited Brown for driving while intoxicated.

Both men were wearing seat-belts according to the report.
