Driver Falls Asleep, Hits Backyard Fence; Passenger Assaults Officer, EMS
La Grange Police arrested a woman for assaulting an officer following a traffic accident Sunday night, Jan. 31.
The crash happened near the corner of Horton St. and Travis St. around 9:20 p.m. according to a report from Police Chief David Gilbreath. Gilbreath said 25-year-old Connor Bouley of La Grange was driving a maroon 2006 Chevy Malibu south on Horton Street. Bouley told officers that he fell asleep while driving. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a back yard fence.
Fayette County EMS and La Grange Police Officer Brett Meinardus responded to the wreck. Gilbreath said EMS was checking the passenger, 29-year-old Jessica Renee Garza for possible injuries. Gilbreath said Garza became belligerent with the EMS personnel inside the ambulance. He said Garza spit on the EMS personnel and assaulted Meinardus.
Gilbreath said Garza was taken to St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange for evaluation.
“After she was medically cleared, she was arrested for assault on a public servant,” Gilbreath said.
