Donate Blood In Carmine

The Blood Drive will be held next Sunday, Aug. 22 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. It is sponsored in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top.

Appointments are required with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Go to khardin@ giveblood.org to schedule an appointment. There is an exceptional need for both whole blood and plasma. Please consider giving the gift of life.

RTCISD News

The first day of classes for Round Top-Carmine ISD is Aug. 23. If parents have not registered their children on the Parent Portal, they are asked to do so as soon as possible.

Online registration is required this year, as no paper packets will be available. Registration documents need to be completed before the first day of school for all returning and students new to the district. This is a separate process from new student enrollment (a one-time requirement.) Go to the Round Top Carmine ISD website for details. If you have questions call your child’s campus at (979) 966-6118 for Jr. High and High School or (979) 249-3200 for elementary.

The volleyball team has participated in several scrimmages.

Carmine 42 Club

The Carmine 42 Club met Wednesday, Aug. 4 to play 8 intriguing games of 42 after eating a delicious lunch at JW’s Steakhouse.

The high scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and Betty Porter with a score of 1951 and played 2 hands of 84. Second place partners were Donna Mueller and Linda Mattocks with a score of 1907 who also played 2 hands of 84. Additional partners were Myrt Meinkowsky and Marlene Waak. Edith Flinn and LaVerne Albers also played as partners.

All players appreciated the exciting game challenges and look forward to the next enjoyable game day in September.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Aug. 26.

MLLC News

Church Council meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The RT-C Teacher and Staff appreciation breakfast will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the 13th Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. Mr. Matt Kindsvatter, executive director of Lutherhill Ministries, will be the guest speaker at both the Saturday and Sunday services. The service will also be on the mllccarmine. com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
