Deputies Investigate Several Burglaries in December
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of December 2020.
Deputy Ben Wilson responded to a residence off of Makinson Road for an inquest due to a terminal illness. Wilson also took a theft of copper wire from an AT&T tower off of State Highway 71 near La Grange.
Deputy Marc Bennett responded to a structure fire off of Petter Rainosek Loop where a smokehouse caught fire. Bennett also took a burglary of a building report near the Ellinger area that occurred sometime between March and November of 2020 as reported by the complainant.
Deputy Ryan Meagher stopped a driver of a vehicle on Old Plum Highway for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. Meagher also responded to a residence at Zilss Road in Winchester for a disturbance. Two males were arrested with one for a warrant and the other for interfering with public duties.
Sergeant Charles Jobb met with a complainant who found a handgun in Buckner’s Creek off of Country Club Drive while fishing. The handgun was found to be stolen and reported stolen in Washington County back from 2016. Jobb also worked a fence damage case where a vehicle traveling on Airport Road lost control and went through a fence. The vehicle then left the scene.
Deputy Terry Guentert responded to the Ammannsville area for found property. It was determined that the property located was from person(s) involved in a pursuit initiated in Weimar and ending in Fayette County.
Deputy Herman Olvera took a burglary report from a residence off of State Highway 95 near Flatonia where numerous items were taken.
Deputy Darrell Maze stopped a vehicle for traveling west in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 71 near West Point. The driver of the vehicle was stopped and arrested for reckless driver.
Deputy Adam Mack stopped a driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near La Grange for defective lighting. The driver was found to be in possession of a handgun and methamphetamines. The driver was arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Mack also located a suspicious vehicle parked near The Point. The occupant of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and was arrested.
Deputy Joe Gonzales took a report of a burglary of a vehicle at Festival Hill. A suspect in the case was identified and the items stolen were returned to the rightful owner.
Deputy Jared Michalec and Michael Krenek responded to an ATV accident on private property off of State Highway 71 east of La Grange. Minor injuries occurred and one patient was transported by EMS.
Deputy Tammy McCleney responded to a residence for a welfare check. The resident had not been heard from in several days. The resident was found deceased due to natural causes. McCleney also responded to a suicide in the Clear Lake Pines area.
Deputy Arvin Gresham investigated a suspicious package left at a residence off of Adamick Road.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 38 individuals for the month of December and transported five individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
