Deputies Busy With Drug Arrests
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that several of his deputies have been busy with drug arrests recently.
On April 18, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Deputy Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on I-10 near the 674 mile marker for having defective equipment. Meagher conducted an investigation and learned that the vehicle occupants had just traveled from Colorado and were acting nervous. The driver admitted that there were narcotics in the vehicle. A search was conducted and Deputy Meagher located approximately 1.6 oz of marijuana, as well as THC gummies and a THC chocolate bar. Emma Long, 26 years old of Pasedena, admitted that the items were hers and she was subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana .
On April 22, at approximately 10 p.m., Deputy Seth Nagel conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 71 near St. James Church Rd. for failure to maintain a single lane. Upon contact with the vehicle the odor of marijuana was present. Upon investigation, the driver, identified as 40-year-old John Neville of La Grange, was later learned to have an active warrant out of Fayette County for interfering with an emergency call. Neville was taken into custody for the warrant. Upon a search of Neville, a baggie of marijuana was located in his pocket. Neville was charged with the warrant, as well as possession of marijuana.
On April 25, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Deputy Michael Krenek was dispatched to I-10 eastbound at the 671 mile marker due to a vehicle in the ditch. Deputy Krenek approached the vehicle and observed a male subject behind the wheel sleeping. Contact was made with the male subject after he awoke and it was discovered that he had marijuana “shake” on his shorts and throughout the driver seat. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Gonzalez of Austin, admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and a baggie with marijuana was located in the center console. Gonzalez was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. Upon arrival at the jail a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamines was located in Gonzalez’s pocket. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
