Crossbow Fired in Road Rage Incident
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Friday, May 28 around 2:39 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a victim reporting a road rage incident that occurred on Interstate 10 eastbound just east of Schulenburg. Colorado County was also notified of the vehicle description traveling eastbound.
The suspect’s vehicle, a 2012 Dodge pickup was located and stopped on Interstate 10 east of Columbus.
The victim was also stopped in a 2019 Dodge dually pickup. The vehicles were escorted off of Interstate 10 onto the feeder road near the Alleyton Road exit.
Investigator Ken Kretz responded to the scene and met with Colorado County deputies and the victim.
It was reported while traveling on the Interstate, the suspect driver opened his back glass in his truck and discharged a pistol crossbow bolt at the victim’s front windshield, fracturing the glass.
After speaking to both parties involved the suspect was identified as 66-year-old Richard Wesley Kammerer of Porter who was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with deadly conduct.
Also seized from the suspect’s vehicle were eight firearms, a silencer, ammunition, and the pistol crossbow.
