Crafty Corner Moves Into NVCC Center

Now that we’ve got the Crafty Corner moved into the NVCC Center, it’s like when your living room gets rearranged. It looks different, it feels different, and it is different for us, but everyone agrees that it was a good move at the right time.

We are so appreciative to the board members and volunteers that gave us their precious time to bring vital moving equipment for us. We can’t say enough about the labor they provided. They really made a big difference.

Shannon McBride from Kindred at Home was our Lunch & Learn series speaker. Most of the members have known Shannon for a long time and were comfortable speaking with him. He described the range of services provided by Kindred that vary from skilled nursing, assisted living, social services, and nursing homes and depending on a what a person’s needs are. All work is centered around the patient’s needs with a medical plan, and family and team input.

He used his own personal experiences and things he has learned along the way to teach some pertinent points. When you provide care for others, you come to realize how comprehensive a plan you need and the level of support that is required as well. He described the people in the room as his mentors while he was growing up in the area and who knew his parents well.

For our Lunch & Learn series on Monday, April 12 we will have speaker Helen Ohnheiser from the Texas Polka Museum.

Our Mother’s Day Quilt is on the move. After the first week of the quilt being housed at Fayette Savings Bank in Schulenburg, the quilt will be on its way to Weimar and will stay with Hill Bank & Trust for the week after Easter. Make plans to go by and see it because it will make such a great springtime gift. Raffle tickets can be obtained wherever it stays for the week. You can also call Cindy at (979) 309-9592.

Navidad Valley Community Connections is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with a mission “to provide a multipurpose organization that initiates, sponsors and promotes events, activities, and projects which enhance the quality of life for older adults in Fayette County and the surrounding communities.” NVCC is located next door to the Boys & Girls Club in Wolters Park.
