COVID Cases Rising

There’s been quite a rise in COVID cases locally in the last few days.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Fayette County has 238 active cases of COVID as of Wednesday, one of our highest levels at any point during the pandemic. The number of fatalities from COVID continues to rise, with 80 deaths now blamed on the disease since the pandemic started. Tuesday the La Grange school district had its most COVID cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic with 10 new elementary students cases that day, two elementary staff cases, one middle school student and one middle school staffer, four high school students and one high school staff case. In the five day span from Aug. 30-Sept 3, LGISD had 23 student positive cases and five staff members positive cases. At Schulenburg ISD the district was reporting eight active elementary cases, 14 active junior high cases, and seven active high school cases.
