County’s Oldest Resident Dies at 109

Mary Lee Mewis, who is believed to be the oldest resident ever in Fayette County, died peacefully in her home in La Grange on Friday Nov. 7 .

Mewis was 109 years old. She was born Sept. 24, 1916.

A private service for her is planned Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
