County Budget Request Spotlight: High-Priced Chairs

County workers sometimes need a place to sit down, and every year the County purchases a number of chairs for the various departments. Here’s a look at the estimated costs for new chairs requested in next year’s budget.

The cheapest chair request was from Fayette County Justice Center, which asked Commissioners for $1,200 for six new office chairs at $200 a piece. The County Clerk’s office requested $1,125 to purchase three chairs at $375 a piece. The most expensive chair request was from the IT department, which asked for $1,500 for a “Ergonomic Aeron Office Chair.”

That totals $3,825 for 10 chairs next year.

Compare that to $3,300 for just two chairs in the current budget. Commissioners budgeted that amount last year to purchase two “Heavy Duty 24/7” chairs for the 911 dispatch center at a cost of $1,650 a piece.
