Correction

Carol Svrcek said her thoughts about the company that coordinates the fair’s reloadable debit cards, Sapphire, were misrepresented in a story in Friday’s Record about the Fayette County Fair:

“I did not make a statement that Sapphire was never around during the fair,” Svrcek said. “There was a vendor at the meeting that stated they wished Sapphire would have come around more often to check on the hand-held readers. I have the utmost respect for Sapphire and their organization. This was the 2nd year we used them and they are awesome to work with. There was always 3-4 Sapphire members in our booth the entire fair (and there is not much room in our booth). They were very instrumental in setting up the vendors and explaining the devices to vendors and our sales workers. They set up outside computer kiosks in the more heavy areas to alleviate traffic; especially since the Fair’s ATM machine was not functioning during the fair.

“We usually arrived at 1 p.m. every day to get our workers set up for Blast Pass sales and were there until on average 2:30 a.m. and Sapphire was right there with us every day. They were also very helpful with any problems the vendors had with any customers. Some vendors were adding items to their menus and Sapphire would have to adjust their readers.

“They had everything set up and ready to go before the fair opened.

“I will say they are very professional and always with a smile!

“They love coming to our fair!”
