The Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will present Calendar Girls November 7, 8 and 9 at the Sanford Schmidt Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, Texas. Written by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth, this comedic tale is based on the true story of eleven women of a women’s organization who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund. When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris decide to raise money for a new couch in the local hospital waiting room. The play shows the two friends persuading four friends to pose nude with them for a calendar.

The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the calendar girls.

This production stars local talent with previous FCCT productions actors Staci Ulrich, Julie Couch, Kristen Holub, Emily Hudson, Judd Ulrich, Brandon Theut, Garrett Reavis, and Jakob Cone. FCCT also welcomes new to the theatre, Lucy Carr, Blythe Cone, Katy Beauford, Holly Garza, Doady Rogers, and Mona Nuckolls. Each actor brings their form of comedic flair to the characters all while sharing in a tale of the emotional and physical hardship cancer can bring to people and those that care about them.

“You may have heard of or even seen the film “Calendar Girls,”states Co-Director Heather Barthelme, “We cannot wait to see our local group present it live. We hope you enjoy it!” Directing with Barthelme, Tiffany Denham notes, “These actors are so talented and they really dove into each character. It doesn’t matter how or what their role is, each of these actors really make me laugh.”

Showtimes will be Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 at 7 p.m, and Sunday, November 9 at 3 p.m.. Ticket prices start at $20 and discounts are available for students and senior citizens. Tickets are for sale in person at the FCCT Box Office and Studio at 120 South Washington Street in La Grange, or online at www.faycotheatre. com.
