Community Theatre Holding Auditions September 20-21

The Fayette County Community Theatre will be holding auditions for their final production of the 2021 season, John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men.” Auditions will be held Sept. 20 and 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center. This casting call is open to the public, with no experience or preparation necessary to audition. Those unable to make the listed audition dates must contact FCCT to schedule an alternative date no later than Sept. 15.

Winner of Best Play by the New York Drama Critic’s Circle, and one of Steinbeck’s most acclaimed works, this American classic chronicles four days in the lives of migrant workers, George and Lennie. Unlikely friends, they move from town to town hoping to work and save enough to own their own piece of land. When Lennie stirs up trouble, George must choose between his friend and his dream. This vivid picture of the Great Depression conveys a tale of friendship, loneliness, and unfortunate circumstances for even “the best laid schemes of mice and men.”

Due to the period, plot, and setting of this production, this casting call has been done Broadway Style, with each char acter’s gender, race, and age range specified.
