Collision Near Winchester

Two vehicles crashed head-on near Winchester last Wednesday, June 23. No one was seriously injured.

The crash happened on FM 153 near Piney Creek Road around 2:43 p.m. A report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 63-year-old Delfina Lourdes Renke was driving a red 2014 Ford Explorer east on FM 153 approaching a right hand curve. A white 2015 Chevy Silverado driven by Edward John Reimer, 44 of Pearland, was heading west approaching the same curve. The report said the Explorer “crossed over the double solid yellow line and entered the westbound lane.” The Explorer struck the front left side of the Silverado. Both vehicles slid off opposite sides of the road. The Silverado rolled over and struck a barbed wire fence. The Explorer came to rest after also striking a barbed wire fence.

DPS Trooper Mason Hartnett investigated the crash and issued Renke a citation for driving on the wrong side of the road while not passing.
