City of LG Mask-Wearing Details
The City of La Grange’s mask ordinance went away March 10, the day Governor Greg Abbott lifted the statewide mask mandate.
La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn told the City Council at a meeting Monday night that the City’s mask ordinance, which went into effect last July, was based on provisions in Abbotts executive orders. The City’s mask ordinance no longer has a legal basis after Abbott lifted his executive orders effective March 10.
Even though Abbott lifted the mask order, businesses and other organizations can still require people to wear masks on their property. Accordingly, Raborn said the City is still asking the public to wear masks inside City Hall and other City facilities such as the library. If members of the public do not comply, he said police could issue trespass warnings or tickets.
