City of Fayetteville Gets New Water Billing System
The City of Fayetteville has a new water billing system. Water customers will now receive a postcard with their usage and billing information. There’s an option to log in online to view the bill and pay via credit card. The website address to view/pay online will appear at the top of the bill. To pay online, register to create an online account using the municipality code, account number and name entered exactly as it appears on the bill.
Those using an automatic draft can continue as usual. If payment is made by mail or in person, the bottom portion of the bill needs to be included along with the payment. If choosing to go paperless and receive an email with the bill, please contact the City Secretary, Jacqueline Brown, at (979) 378-2559.
City Council Meeting
The next City Council meeting is Monday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. The agenda will be posted on the website and bulletin board outside the door of the Community Center at least 72 hours prior to the meeting in compliance with the Open Meetings Act. http://fayettevillecitytx.com
Bluegrass Music
A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday, Aug. 14. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming in the town square. Play begins around 2 p.m. For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/ groups/100734977031117
Fayetteville ISD
There’s a lot happening at Fayetteville ISD. Classes begin Aug. 16. All students will eat for free for the 2021-2022 school year. FISD is participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) school nutrition program—a federal and state funded program. The SSO option provides the opportunity for every Pre-K to Grade 12 student to eat free of charge. The board understands the past 16 months have been difficult for many in our community and hope this program will provide some additional financial assistance to all of the Fayetteville ISD families during this school year. A few lucky FISD juniors, seniors and recent graduates finally took off on a trip that was in the planning stages for three years, mainly due to COVID restrictions. The adventurous group headed to Oahu, Hawaii, led by Secondary English Teacher/UIL Coordinator Amber Eilers. While visiting Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head Crater, Iolani Palace, Waimea Valley and the North Shore, the students learned all about the history and culture of our 50th state. Among the amazing views, hiking and beach time, cracking open a coconut was one of the many tour highlights.
