Citations Issued for Speeding in School Zone, Clothes Stolen from Washateria
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 17-23.
Assault
On Oct. 20, Officer Chris Kalina arrived to the 500 block of Wolf to speak to a juvenile about a possible assault. Juvenile would not speak to the officer.
Accident
On Oct. 17, Kalina responded to the frontage road of I-10 eastbound and observed a vehicle that had been hit by a deer. Vehicle was not drivable and a wrecker was called.
Animal Complaint
On Oct. 17, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 200 block of Keuper for a dog in a kennel but did not see any clean water. Officer made contact with the owner that advised they would take care of it right away.
On Oct. 18, Sgt. Tobey McFadden checked the area of 700 South St. for a loose dog running in the area. Officer was unable to locate.
On Oct. 19, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 400 block of Bohlmann for a small dog roaming around and caller was afraid it would get run over. Officer took the dog to the shelter.
On Oct. 19, McFadden responded to Wolters Park for Rottweiler dog running loose in the park. The owner was notified and told to chain the dog.
On Oct. 21, Castilleja was contacted at the police station in regard to an animal complaint.
On Oct. 21, Officer Hailee Vincent was notified of two dogs out in the 500 block of Wolf.
On Oct. 21, Kalina responded to the 500 block of Wolf for two loose dogs.
On Oct. 22, Parkinson was dispatched to the 500 block of Wolf to talk with owners about their dog chasing people. Officer was advised the owners were in Mexico.
Agency Assist
On Oct. 17, Kalina assisted EMS in the 300 block of Schwartz Blvd.
Criminal Trespass
On Oct. 19, Parkinson responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for an individual causing a disturbance at Pilot. Individual was yelling at the cashier and wanted to fight another truck driver who came to the cashiers rescue. Manager wanted a criminal trespass issued.
Forgery
On Oct. 18, Officer Brent Gindler recovered a fake $100 from the Hitching Post at N. Kessler.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Oct. 17, Kalina responded to the 1100 block of James in reference to someone banging on the back door. Officer checked the area and did not locate anyone.
On Oct. 20, Castilleja contacted a suspicious person at the sports complex and individual was identified and then advised he was there for a run.
On Oct. 22, Kalina observed a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Lyons while the business was closed. Officer made contact with the individual that advised they were employed by DFA and she had stopped to relax and have a smoke break.
Welfare Check
On Oct. 19, Gindler observed a driver with flashing headlights and conducted a welfare check in the 80 block of Kessler. Driver was having electrical issues with her car.
Miscellaneous On Oct. 17, Kalina checked
On Oct. 17, Kalina checked on a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Schwartz Blvd.
On Oct. 17, Kalina received an iphone from an individual that brought it to the police station as she found on the road. Officer received a call from the phone and it was identified as mom. Officer answered and met the mom to deliver phone back to the daughter.
On Oct. 18, McFadden was sent to the KC Hall due to camera’s being unplugged. The cameras were unplugged by member while removing computer tower and then plugged back in.
On Oct. 19, Parkinson went to Colonial to verify sex offenders for the month of October.
On Oct. 22, Gindler responded to the 1100 block of Pierce for individual burning in the front yard. They were advised it was illegal and not to do it. They put out fire with a water hose.
On Oct. 23, Gindler responded to the 1100 block of Herdler for a possible water leak. Officer spoke to the homeowner that stated he was draining his pool.
On Oct. 23, Parkinson was dispatched to the 100 block of Schultt for loud music. Individual agreed to turn the music down.
Theft
On Oct. 19, Gindler spoke with complainant in the 300 block of N. Main who advised someone stole his clothes out of the dryer. Video showed a female in a gray SUV using the laundromat using several machines and removed individual clothes and took them.
Traffic Stop
On Oct. 18, McFadden stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 45 in a 25. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 19, Gindler stopped a vehicle for failure to stop for a school bus in the 300 block of E. Summit.
On Oct. 19, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Summit and Kessler for a vehicle with a tail lamp out. Officer found several violations and citations were issued.
On Oct. 19, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Bucek and Upton for running the stop sign. After investigation officer found several violations.
On Oct. 19, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation issued for speeding going 35 in a 25-school zone.
On Oct. 20, Vincent initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle speeding in a school zone. As officer passed the vehicle officer observed the driver talking on her cell phone. Citations were issued for use of wireless communication in school zone and warning for speeding.
On Oct. 21, Vincent observed a vehicle in the 500 block of North where the driver did not have a seat belt on. A traffic stop was initiated. Citations were issued for driving without a seatbelt and defective tail lamp.
On Oct. 21, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Kessler on a vehicle speeding in a school zone.
On Oct. 21, Kalina stopped a vehicle for a defective headlamp in the 80 block of Kessler. A search was conducted and individual was arrested for possession and unlawful carrying of weapons.
On Oct. 21, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Summit for a vehicle with no license plate lights. A warning was issued.
On Oct. 22, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for a vehicle driving with no headlights. He driver was driving erratically and the occupants were all minors that had been drinking in the vehicle. Parents and guardians were called to come and pick them up. A warning was issued to the driver.
On Oct. 23, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and College for failing to signal. Consent was given to search and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found and a citation was issued.
