Church Marker to be Dedicated Monday

The Fayette County Historical Commission will be holding it’s regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.

At this meeting the commission will dedicate Connorsville Primitive Baptist Church African American Cemetery and Marker.

The location of the cemetery and marker can be found by taking FM 1457 from Round Top towards Winedale. The cemetery is on the right hand side of the road.

There are directional signs to show the way.

The meeting will begin with the dedication of the marker and an old fashioned potluck picnic.

A short business meeting will follow the dedication.

This marker culminates many years of dedicated research and hard work by our historical commission member David Collins and a host of supporting team members.

It shows the history of many of the plantations, African American families many of which still live in the area and honors the hard work of those family members who are buried in the cemetery.

Please make plans to attend this dedication and learn the history of the Connersville Primitive Baptist Church and the African American Cemetery.
