Choke Canyon Hosts Veterans

Area veterans from all branches of the military were honored with a complimentary meal last week at Fayette County’s newest BBQ restaurant. Choke Canyon BBQ, whose original location is located near the Choke Canyon Reservoir south of San Antonio, opened its Schulenburg location July 14. Restaurant manager Chris Perez and Pitmaster Rick Ryba, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, hosted approximately 100 veterans and their guests to a BBQ dinner and refreshments, which was enjoyed by veterans from Schulenburg, La Grange, Hallettsville, Flatonia, Weimar, and surrounding areas. All who attended enjoyed the good food, clean environment, camaraderie and meeting new people.
