Chicken Noodle Soup Lunch this Sunday
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a Chicken Noodle Soup Lunch and Bake Sale for Sunday, Jan. 31. Serving gets underway at 10:30 a.m. There will be a new drive thru route under the pavilion; follow the signs. Roll down your car windows and enjoy the music of Zach Novak. Soup will cost $8 per quart or $30 per gallon. Please bring your own containers. Homemade chicken salad sandwiches and desserts will also be available for sale.
Mayoral Candidates Sought
The City of Ellinger announces that any Ellinger citizen wishing to run for the office of mayor or commissioner needs to pick up an application in order to be placed on the ballot for election in May. Applications can be obtained from a city representative at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall from 7-10 a.m. on normal business days from Jan. 13-Feb. 12. The City election will be held on May 1. The next meeting for the City of Ellinger has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan 28 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be at the Ellinger Community Center-Dining Hall. The agenda will be posted at the Ellinger Post Office prior to the meeting.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturday’s of each month. Other services are at Industry Brethren – parking lot services on the second, third and fourth Saturday’s at 3 pm; In-person services are at Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Ellinger VFD
The Ellinger VFD will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fire Station. It will drill on Wednesday, February 17.
Ellinger VFD responded to a call from Fayetteville VFD to assist with a structure fire on Saturday, Jan. 24. Ellinger responded with Tanker 5 and several firemen.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 8. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. Please be aware that your February water bill will be coming in an envelope along with the agenda for the annual meeting. Also included will be a ballot for the election of three director’s positions. There are four candidates on the ballot; you vote for three. Candidate qualifications and bios will be sent also. Members may vote by mailing in their ballots, dropping them off at 607 Munn Street, or vote in person when attending the annual meeting. According to the corporation by-laws members are entitled to one vote regardless of how many memberships they hold. Mailed or dropped off ballots are due by noon on Feb. 17. The annual meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. Annual reports will be presented by the manager, engineer, and office manager. Election results will also be presented before the end of the meeting. Members attending will be getting a $10 rebate on their water/sewer bill in March.
Shared Lutheran Ministry
Individual councils of the Shared Lutheran Ministry held elections recently. Installation of these members for St. John Lutheran in Ellinger and Rutersville will be held during worship on Sunday, Jan. 31.
