Celebrate Christmas in Muldoon Saturday
This weekend, Saturday, Dec. 11 from 4-6 p.m. the annual Christmas in Muldoon will be going on. Slow down and come to our tiny community and find some old fashion Christmas spirit. Come check out the Muldoon Museum. They will have some baked goods for sale to help get you in the mood for the season. Check out all the neat old stuff they have on display and visit with those who work so hard to keep Muldoon history alive.
Muldoon Mercantile will be open and serving some refreshments for everyone to enjoy. It also is a great place to meet up and visit with your neighbors. It too will be decorated for the Christmas season. In the parking lot the Muldoon Fire Department will have a truck on display for an up close look at the equipment they are using.
The Muldoon Community Center down by the park will be hosting Santa Claus himself from 4-5 p.m. He will be available for pictures for kids of all ages to take pictures with. It too will be decked out for the season.
Muldoon Fire Department will be hosting their annual Christmas party at 6:30 p.m. They are going to supply barbecue and ask everyone to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share.
All around Muldoon there will collection points for food for local food banks. This is a way for the Muldoon community to give back during this season of giving. Toys and coats can also be donated to be distributed to those kiddos who are in need of a happy Christmas.
Out and About
Ron and Pam Knotts enjoyed a Thanksgiving visit from granddaughter Keylee Simpson. She brought along her fiancé Trey Brasel. They drove in from spending a few days in Nashville, Tennessee, where Trey had proposed to Keylee. This made wedding plans the big topic of the weekend. On Friday Keylee drove to Eagle Lake to pick up her eighteen month old niece, Olivia. They capped the day off with pizza in Giddings at Reba’s followed by a trip over to Ledbetter to enjoy the Light Trail. With Saturday being rainy they all enjoyed some football games. They topped off the weekend with a celebratory dinner at Holman Valley Steakhouse. On Sunday the happy couple headed back to Arkansas.
Kathy and Frank Chlumsky enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with daughter Summer and her family from Austin. Grandkids Olivia and little Marcus kept their grandparents very busy as usual. They spent some time outdoors exploring and feeding the cows and donkeys. Olivia made some holiday ornaments for the tree and created more artwork for display on the refrigerator art gallery. There also was a puzzle marathon going on between Olivia and her dad Ben. Kathy and Frank’s other grandsons, Connor and Hunter Dong went on a hunting trip with their dad, Kenny. Both boys had a productive hunt. Conner got a nice Axis doe and Hunter got his first doe and hog. On Sunday Kathy met with her daughters Jennifer and Summer in Austin for our traditional shopping day. They did a bit of shopping at the Domain and enjoyed some just girl time.
Billy and Nancie Blair traveled to Nancie’s sister and brother in law, Lu and Fred Ginapp at Lake Tawakani. Nancie and Lu’s mother, Elaine Lang joined them. They enjoyed lots of good food and lots of visiting.
Jennifer and Clay Rightmer hosted Thanksgiving dinner at their home. Lane Rightmer came in from Waco; Reed Rightmer came in from Houston; Will and Marilyn Howard came from Horseshoe Bay; and Julie Zavala and her kids Kaylin and Zac of Georgetown all came to enjoy family and food.
Neighborhood Watch
It’s that time of year again that we all need to pay a little extra attention to what is happening around us. Get to know your neighbors and keep an eye out for strange vehicles in the area. If you see something out of the ordinary please make a call and see if everything is ok. If we all pull together we can keep the area safe and take care of our family, friends and neighbors. A quick phone call might prevent a crime. If you see something strange call the sheriff’s office and report it.
It might be good also to check and see if your neighbor is ok. The weather has been running the gamut and has a number of people ill with sinus problems and allergies. This is the time of year to pull together.
