The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 held their monthly meeting Oct. 25. Members were asked to bring items to donate to Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter. Regent Antosh remembered members Evyline Zapalac and Lillian Krenek, both passed away this past month, with special intentions and the charter was draped in their memory.

The annual Candlelight Rosary was held on Oct. 6 at 5:45 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. CDA members were joined by the CYM leaders and students. Each participant represented a bead by holding a lit candle which made a giant circle around the inside of the church. There was wonderful participation and an impressive site and ceremony.

To celebrate National CDA Day, the court met with Mayor Dockery on Oct. 14 for the signing of the Proclamation and we participated in Mass at Sacred Heart Church recognizing Sunday, Oct. 17 as National CDA Day. The Mass was very well attended and our court’s members served as ministry volunteers. The court received five new members at this Mass.

The WRAP Campaign was the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6 and Court Annunciation participated by bringing awareness to pornography by placing a huge white ribbon and bow around the large oak tree on the courthouse lawn as well as placing a WRAP Campaign banner on the lawn. Theresa Wolff is the chairman of the event.

The Fall dinner fundraiser will be Dec. 9, drive through only at the KC Community Center in La Grange. Meal tickets have been distributed and members are asked to help cook and fill plates.

The court will once again include cookies in the Cookies for the Homebound Christmas packages this year. Instead of asking members to bring cookies, the court will get together and bake and bag them all, an effort to keep safety a priority.

The Christmas raffle tickets will be available at the Nov. meeting. The drawing to be determined.

A motion to once again participate in the Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive sponsored by St. Mark’s Medical Center benefitting the Family Crisis Center passed.

Susan Kaspar, chair of the Memorial Mass, reminded everyone that the KC/CDA Memorial Mass would take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Hostyn.

The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting will be Nov. 22.
