CDA No. 1962 Meets, Donates to Christmas at Sea Project

Gifts collected by CDA No. 1962 members donated to the Christmas at Sea project.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 held their monthly meeting Nov. 22, 2021. Members were asked to bring items to donate to the Seafarer’s through the Christmas at Sea project. Two members members delivered the donations to Victoria the following day.

Court Annunciation received three new members at this meeting. Joining the court were Esbeida Martinez, Hortencia Jaimes and Josefina Vega.

Four members participated with the Texas State Court at the Veteran’s Day Celebration in Praha on Nov. 7. Members participated in the Patriotic Rosary that was led by the CDA State Board prior to Mass. Then all enjoyed the outdoor program and meal and fellowship afterwards.

The WRAP campaign took place from Oct. 31 through Nov. 6. The court participated by placing the WRAP banner and wrapping the large white bow around the huge oak tree on the courthouse lawn. An article regarding the WRAP campaign was also submitted to the Fayette County Record.

A Pro-Life Holy Hour will take place on Jan. 22, the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, after the 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange.

The KC/CDA Memorial Mass held on Nov. 9 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Hostyn was well attended. The court remembered eight members who passed during the past year. All enjoyed a turkey soup meal, provided by the KC’s and desserts provided by Court Annunciation.

The Cookies for the Homebound was made the week of Dec. 12.

The court once again donated a food basket to the St. Mark’s Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive.

The annual KC/CDA Christmas party was held on Sunday, Dec. 9. The meal was provided by the KC’s.

Since the onset of COVID, the court has not had refreshments at the meeting. A motion was made to change the meeting times to 6:30 p.m. and continue with no refreshments..

District Deputy 11, Janet Purdy, informed all members of the State activities taking place in the near future. Pray and Play will be Feb. 19 and 20 in Sugarland, there will be a Texas CDA Cruise taking place after the state convention in 2023 and the National Convention is July 20- 24, in Puerto Rico. The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting will be Jan. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
