CDA No. 1962 Holds Meeting

Catholic Daughters of the America’s Court Annunciation No. 1962 met on Feb. 22. The meeting opened with prayer and special intentions for member Patricia Villasana, who passed away on Jan. 29, 2021.

In spite of the pandemic, Court Annunciation continues to forge on with their activities as we stay committed to our motto, “Unity and Charity.” Although many activities have had to be adjusted due to COVID guidelines, the court strives to uphold our promise to the community, state and nation.

During the month of February, members of the court led the Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Feb. 19. The court continues to remember those who are in Jefferson Place by sending goodie bags which included chips, cookies, candy, a Valentines coloring sheet and a handwritten card with an inspirational Bible verse.

Locally, the court has 17 applications for scholarships and 22 were sent to the State level. The JCDA is preparing for officer elections upcoming in April and have announced that the JCDA convention held June 24-26 will be a Hybrid Virtual convention so as to keep everyone safe during this time.

The local fish fry was held on Friday, Feb. 26.

All entries for the local Education Contest have been judged and any winners have been submitted to the State level. Promoting Literacy Across Texas was March 2 and since the court cannot go into the classrooms to read due to COVID, the court is looking at possibly reading to the classrooms via ZOOM.

The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting is March 22.
