CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 Meets August 23

The CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 23 at the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center at 7 p.m. After the opening prayer, Regent Shirley Antosh welcomed everyone back from the summer break. The minutes and treasurer’s report were approved as corrected.

Carolyn Weishuhn presented revisions to the standing rules and they were adopted as presented. Stacy Ryza reported on the 55th family and anniversary dinner which was held on June 13 at the KC Hall. She thanked all those who helped to organize and decorate for the event. We were blessed to have several members from the CDA State Board attend the event. There were several highlights, recognizing our charter members, awarding prizes for the education contest winners, presenting several scholarships and receiving 12 new members into our court. We are always excited to bring in new members and expand our talent pool throughout our activities.

Legislation chair Terri Wagner, gave a beautiful tribute in honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11. It gave the view from someone who was not from America and how they view the bond between Americans and how that bond is all based on “freedom.”

Marilyn Kothmann reported that our website is very close to being launched. Our district deputy, Janet Purdy, asked for all CDA members who have a Facebook account to join Texas CDA as it is a great tool to keep up with the CDA across the state of Texas is doing. She also reminded everyone about the Day of Reflection which will take place on Oct. 2 in Alvin and she asked everyone to mark their calendars for Oct.19 and 20 for our biannual Pray and Play weekend.

After the closing prayer by vice-regent Carolyn Weishuhn, the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center.
