CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 Meets, Attends State Convention

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 held their regular monthly meeting on April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Narthex Meeting Room in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The meeting opened with a prayer, petitions and pledges to the US and Texas Flags. The court began the month with sending goody bags to residents of Jefferson Place. The court presented a gift of a Holy Spirit keychain ring to confirmands of Sacred Heart and Sts. Peter & Paul, Plum and of a hand wooden cross along with a prayer card with A Prayer before Communion on it to those who made their 1st Communion from Sacred Heart and Sts. Peter & Paul, Plum.

The Annual Family and Anniversary Dinner is schedule for June 13 at the KC Hall. The Court is planning a reception of new members to be held at this event, so if you know someone who might be interested in joining the court, please ask them or ask one of the Membership Committee members for assistance. Scholarships will also be presented at this event.

Four court members, Shirley Antosh, Mary Lou Anderle, April Feray and Sherry Hebert, attended the First Annual Victoria Diocese Women’s Arise Conference on Saturday, April 24 in Victoria. All four were involved in assisting by either helping to register guests, serving breakfast or as part of the music group. The day began with a Mass, then Bishop Cahill led a Eucharistic Procession. There was also the opportunity to participate in confession and adoration. The speakers were Fr. Cedric Pisegna from EWTN; Janice Carleton, speaker, author and musician; Bishop Cahill of the Victoria Diocese. It was a spirit-filled day that left us wanting more.

Six court members attended the State Convention in Texarkana April 14-18. The following members were delegates, Shirley Antosh, Mary Lou Anderle, Dr. Connie Buscha and Peggy Sulik. The other two members, Cynthia Novak and Peggy Supak, attended as State Chairmen. All who attended assisted with duties throughout the convention. Cynthia Novak was the Ways & Means Chairmen and was responsible for all fundraising that took place at the convention. Mary Lou Anderle served as the Liturgy Chair and therefore was responsible for any spiritual event, including Masses, that took place during the convention. It was a wonderful convention filled with spiritual opportunities, learning opportunities and fun activities.

Court Annunciation had eight recipients of the Texas State Court Memorial Scholarship. Many thanks are extended to the scholarship committee for their commitment to our youth and their future education. These will be presented at our May meeting. Our court came away with nine awards from the State Convention. Also, our District Deputy, Janet Purdy, was awarded one of three outstanding District Deputies.

The State JCDA Convention will be held in June in Seguin, and it will be a hybrid-virtual convention. Our very own Mia Solorzano will be concluding her term as the State First Vice Regent.

The Financial Review was held prior to the meeting. All books were found to be in order.

The court had a very busy month. The meeting ended with prayer. The next meeting is Monday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at the Narthex Meeting Room in Sacred Heart Church.
