CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 Gains New Members, Makes Donation
Court Annunciation is pleased to announce the addition of nine new members from the November and January meetings. The court welcomed Jacqueline (Jackie) Givens, Connie Buscha, PHD, Maria Anaya, Claudia Cruz, Brenda Estrada, Dolores Martinez, Sandra Martinez, Jessica Ortiz and Zuzucky Torres. The court is excited about the addition of the new members and look forward to their fellowship and participation.
On Jan. 25, Court Annunciation No. 1962 met at 7 p.m. in the narthex meeting room of Sacred Heart Church. The meeting opened with prayer and Regent Shirley Antosh took a moment to remember the passing of the following members with special intentions: Maria Trinidad De Leon passed away Dec. 23, 2020; Charter Member Bernice Holubec passed away Jan. 9, 2020; and Sharon Belota passed away Jan. 15, 2020. “Eternal Rest Grant Unto them O Lord, and Let the Perpetual Light Shine Upon them. May they Rest in Peace.” Amen
In further business, Court Annunciation is responsible for leading the Stations of the Cross on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. If you are interested in assisting with this event, contact Sandra Ellison to volunteer.
While the court is still unable to host its monthly birthday party at Jefferson Place due to COVID guidelines, the court sent a gift package with snacks, puzzles and prayer cards so that the residents will know that they have not been forgotten. This past month the court delivered 36 packages to the residents of Jefferson Place.
Delegates for the 52nd Biennial Texas State CDA Convention were elected. A decision of whether or not the convention will actually take place due to COVID restrictions will be made on March 15. In the meantime, we are proceeding as if everything is on schedule.
In November, the court participated in the Annual Family Crisis Center Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive by donating a basket filled with everything necessary for a family in need to be able to have a proper Thanksgiving meal.
Again, due to COVID guidelines, the court was unable to host the Giddings State School Christmas party in person, but still provided 36 boys with pizza, soft drinks, desserts and a gift bag for each. The court is hopeful that next year the party will be able to be held in person.
On Friday, Jan. 22, the court participated in a Holy Hour for reparation and healing for the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. Court members served as readers for the Holy Hour and for Mass which immediately followed, and members of the court led all those in attendance with a Pro-Life Rosary during the period of reflection. There were 13 CDA members in attendance. Many members attended the Holy Hour that was held at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange on the same evening.

And last, but definitely not least, Court Annunciation voted to award a donation of $1,000 to Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Plum for the Portico Project. The project will include the addition of a portico to the entrance of the church along with the installation of decorative doors that will feature stained glass inserts of the two patron saints.
The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting is schedule for Feb. 22.
