Catholic Schools Week Proclaimed
The students, faculty, and staff of Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange will celebrate Catholic Schools Week Jan. 30 through Feb. 5. The theme for this year’s events is Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.
Sacred Heart Catholic School is excited about their school and look forward to sharing activities with you.
The activities will be kicked off on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools will present a virtual talent showcase. Here in La Grange a small gathering will celebrate Sacred Heart’s honoree Cathy Goerig. She is thanked her for her dedication to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Saturday, Jan. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 31, Celebrating our Parish: Opening Masses will be Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. Students will participate in the Masses in special ways such as being altar servers, banner carriers, lectors, and cantors.
Monday, Feb. 1, Celebrating our Community: “Meet You at the Flagpole Ceremony” at 8:10 a.m. Through Google Meet, the sixth graders will lead the students in prayers, pledges, and a patriotic song. Students may wear silly socks.
Tuesday, Feb. 2, Celebrating our Parents and Grandparents: Because of COVID 19 we are unable to host our parents and grandparents so the students decorated paper donuts and put pictures of their parents and grandparents on them. These will be displayed in the hallways. The students will still enjoy a donut during the day. Students will wear class-assigned color-coded clothes.
Wednesday, Feb. 3, Celebrating our Students: Teachers will treat students in various ways. Also, there will be ice cream treats for everyone. Students will be given the opportunity to buy-out-of-their-uniforms by donating items to the Janssen Animal Shelter.
Thursday, Feb. 4, Celebrating Vocations: Sometime during the week, Father Brian Phillips will speak to the students about his vocation to the priesthood. Students will wear their uniforms.
Friday, Feb. 5, Celebrating our Teachers and Staff: The sixth grade students and parents will treat the faculty and staff in a special way. This is much appreciated. To make the day even more fun, students may wear mixed-up clothes.
