Round Top-Carmine ISD will have a holiday on April 2 and a student holiday/professional development day on April 5.
High School baseball team plays at Mumford April 1 at 4:30. They play at Fayetteville April 6 at 6:30 p.m.
WELCA
The WELCA Unit of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met March 11 with 7 members present – Leonita Sanders, Joys Baird, Susan Ray, Diana Wunderlich, Sedalia Ullrich, Dianna Gerland, and Nancy Eilers.
Leonita Sanders presided. She opened with prayer concerning Bold Women’s Sunday.
Nursing home parties, holy communion visits, salad supper, and turkey and dressing meal were not held in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Thankoffering service was held with ladies explaining activities that women do for the church. Yearbooks were assembled in November. Quilting will continue on the second Monday of the month at 9 a.m. Quilts distributed were: 80-Lutheran World Relief; 33-Camp For All; and 28-Krause Children’s Center. Ninety-three masks were sewn by various women and taken to Krause Center.
Lutheran World Relief Shipment was on Nov. 7 at Zionsville. Taken were 4 Baby Care Kits; 10 Fabric Kits; 75 Personal Care Kits; 107 School Kits; 82 Quilts; 6 Blankets; and $20 for shipping.
Brazos Cluster Fall Gathering and Synod Women’s Convention were not held due to COVID-19.
Since Colette Wunderlich has resigned as president, Leonita Sanders was elected President. Nancy Eilers was elected Secretary to take Leonita’s place.
Currently no nursing home birthday parties or communion days along with funeral serving have been held and are not planned for the near future. The women’s banquet will not be held in June. Discussion was held to possibly have a drivethrough meal for the turkey and dressing meal. Ladies are encouraged to help hand out Yearbooks.
In-gatherings for Lutheran World Relief: January-Baby Care Kits; May-Fabric Kits; July-School Kits; and October-School Kits. February, May, and August are the months to collect for A.M.E.N. Canceled postage stamps are taken to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. They sell the stamps and give the money to LWR.
Three hundred dollars was donated to the LYO for Super Bowl of Caring. Bold Women’s Day was observed on the 4th Sunday in February with Leonita giving info and devotion at both Sat. and Sun. services. No information has been received about the Brazos Cluster Spring and Fall Gatherings.
For the Mother’s Day Upbring Children’s Project-May 9, we will put offering containers on tables at the back of the sanctuary.
The Eleventh Triennial Convention was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19. The churchwide executive board, which met in October 2020, offered three recommendations in regard to the Eleventh & Twelfth Triennial Conventions. No action has yet been taken on these.
Diana Wunderlich will continue to order coffee and Leonita will purchase kitchen supplies.

MLLC News
Maundy Thursday worship service with Holy Communion is April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Good Friday Tenebrae service is at 7 p.m.
The Vigil of Easter service with Holy Communion is Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Resurrection of Our Lord services include a sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. at the Carmine Cemetery and a festival worship service with Holy Communion at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Bring lawn chairs to the service at the cemetery. An egg hunt will follow the 10 a.m. service.
The special Lenten offering this year is designated for the Gulf Coast Synod – Emergency Winter Freeze Appeal.
The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans are accepted. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
