Carmine VFD Hosting Hamburger Drive-Thru

A hamburger drive-thru, sponsored by the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department, will be Sunday, May 16 with pick up from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Fire Station. Advance only tickets are $10 and available from any firefighter and also at Carmine Feed & Fertilizer, Carmine State Bank, City Garage, and Creative Paws. Deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, May 9.

For the annual Feast and Fundraiser on July 18, they will have a drive-thru fried chicken meal and also a drawing. More details to follow.

Drill night will be May 13.

If you plan a controlled burn, please call the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856 to give them your name, location of burn, and phone number. In Washington County, call (979) 277-7373. Remember not to burn on windy days.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine High School FCCLA Banquet was held On April 28 and the FFA Banquet on April 29.

The school is continuing to require face masks on campus. With this rule in place, they should be able to complete the school year.

Waldeck Lutheran Church

Waldeck Lutheran Church is sponsoring their annual picnic on May 23. There will be a drive-thru meal catered by Texas One Stop in La Grange consisting of pulled pork, sausage, hot potato salad, pinto beans, and sauce. Tickets are $10 and available in the Martin Luther Lutheran Church office. There will also be a drawing.

Carmine Lions Club

The Carmine Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, May 11 at JW’s Steakhouse beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Cemetery Decoration Service

The Carmine Cemetery Decoration service will be held Sunday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the cemetery.

Blood Drive

A Blood Drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 23 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Appointments are required and you may contact khardin@giveblood.org to schedule one.

MLLC News

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Praise Team leads music and the Noisy Offering will be received. Property and Christian Ed Committees meet after worship. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Quilting for Camp For All is Monday beginning at 9 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans are accepted. Attendants are available to help unload.

They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
