Carmine Lions Meet, New Officers Installed
The Carmine Lions Club held their first meeting for the 2021-2022 year on July 13. District Governor Joe Franks and Zone Chair Kelli Higgins both attended the meeting. Most of the discussion at the meeting was about upcoming events/fundraisers for our community. Jody Pohl also attended for a question-and-answer session on how cook-offs are done. The club is considering hosting a cook-off next spring for the State Cookers Association.
Carmine Lions Club officers and directors for 2021-2022 are: President-Jimmy Loewe; 1st Vice President-vacant; 2nd Vice President-Lisa Mayer; 3rd Vice President-Marlene Waak; Secretary/Treasurer-Ricky Weyand; Tail Twister-Glenn Treude; Directors-Sonny Marth, Alvis Mueller, and J. C. Pohl; Membership Chair-Marie Loewe; and Club Administrator-Claire Mayer.
President Jimmy Loewe, Secretary/Treasurer Ricky Weyand and Membership Chair Marie Loewe attended the Installation of Officers hosted by The Brenham Evening Lions on July 20. The officers were installed by District Governor Joe Franks.
Class Reunion
Eleven members of the graduating class of 1951 of Round Top-Carmine High School met for their 70-year anniversary reunion on Saturday, July 24 at JW’s Steakhouse in Carmine.
Present were: Vernon and Joyce Fuchs of Houston and Carmine, Jocie (Mueller) and Floyd Braun of Round Top, Joyce (Ullrich) Fuchs and daughter Jennifer Teinert of Carmine, Frances (Pietsch) Schumann of Warda, Marceil (Meiners) Malak of Waldeck, Delvin Reuter of Orchard, Charline (Gest) and Al Cordes of Spring Branch, Glenroy and Waldine Ebner of Giddings, and William and Dorothy Marth of Carmine. Also, Aldine (Weishuhn) Bernshausen of Giddings of the class of 1952 attended.
The group enjoyed lunch and much remembering. They hope to meet again in 2022.
Chamber Casino Night
Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their Prost Casino Night with a German theme on Saturday, August 14 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. Enjoy a joyful German atmosphere and entertainment along with beer and wine.
Reserved tables for eight are available. Individual tickets are $30. Enjoy Gary’s famous Chicken-Fried-Steak meal, a rifle drawing, and games. Tickets are available in advance at Carmine State Bank or by calling (979) 451-1507. Proceeds support the Carmine Chamber’s many projects.
RT-Carmine ISD Registration
Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is open on Parent Portal. This year, online registration will be required as no paper packets will be available. Registration documents need to be completed before the start of school on August 23 for all returning and students new to the district. This is a separate process from new student enrollment (a one-time requirement). Go to the Round Top Carmine ISD website for details. If you have questions call your child’s campus at 979-966-6118 for Jr. High and High School or 979-249-3200 for elementary.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is August 12.

Worship committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday worship with holy communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday school meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with holy communion, observing the 11th Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. Praise team leads hymns. Larger cans are available at the back of the sanctuary for the Noisy Offering to be placed in. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Property and Christian ed committees meet after worship.
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.
Recycle Trailer
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10-2.
