Carmine Lions Club Meets at JW’s Steakhouse
Carmine Lions Club met Aug. 10 at JW’s Steakhouse. It was reported that the club collected 120 pairs of eyeglasses (some lenses included) last year. Quite a few have already been collected this year. They may be dropped in the collection box at the Carmine State Bank or brought to any meeting.
The Carmine Club helped collect used shoes with soles and took them to the Gonzales Noon Lions Club to be given to countries where they are needed.
Dues for the club may be paid by either check or drafted from your bank account.
RT-C ISD News
The Round Top-Carmine ISD began classes on Aug. 23.
Students need to bring water bottles from home.
High School JV and Varsity volleyball teams are scheduled to play both Giddings and Hallettsville Aug. 31 in Giddings with the first game at 4:30 p.m. They play at Brazos Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.
Sept. 6 is the Labor Day holiday.
Heritage Committee
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Heritage Committee will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in the museum.
The topic for discussion will be “Public Education-As it was and is now.” Please bring old photos or school memorabilia to share with the group.
Everyone is welcome to these informal sessions.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
They remind members that dues may be paid at any time. They are $10 and may be mailed to CVFD, PO Box 217, Carmine, TX 78932.

Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met Aug. 12. Five members were present. They included Barbara Jacob, Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Jocie Braun, and Dianna Gerland.
The Bible study was led by Joys Baird with the theme “Just L.I.F.E.; Just Hope.”
The business meeting was called to order by Barbara Jacob, Vice-president.
There was no quilting on Aug. 9. Two quilts will be presented to Matt Kindsvatter on Aug. 22 for the Lutherhill fundraiser.
Nursing homes are still limiting visits.
Items for Lutheran World Relief School Kits are still being collected. Plans are to set a date at the September meeting for assembling the kits. Inventory will be taken at the end of August to see what is still needed to complete kits.
Sedalia Ullrich gave the Offering Meditation.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the singing of the table prayer.
Hostesses were Barbara Jacob and Jocie Braun.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Labor Day Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall. You are invited to wear your work clothes. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. A meal of chicken spaghetti with trimmings will be served following the service. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
