Carmine Chamber to Host Casino Night
Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their Prost Casino Night with a German theme on Saturday, Aug. 14 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. Enjoy a joyful German atmosphere and entertainment along with beer and wine.
Reserved tables for 8 are available. Individual tickets are $30. Enjoy Gary’s famous chicken fried steak meal, a rifle drawing, and games. Tickets are available in advance at Carmine State Bank or by calling (979) 451-1507. Proceeds support the Carmine Chamber’s many projects.
RT-C School News
Registration for the Round Top-Carmine 2021-2022 school year is open on Parent Portal. Go to rtcisd.net for details. If you have questions call your child’s campus at (979) 966-6118 for Jr. High and High School or (979) 249-3200 for elementary. The first day of classes for the 2021- 2022 school year is Aug. 23, and registration must be completed before then.
Rebekah Group Meets
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met July 8 at 2 p.m. The 7 members present were Dianna Gerland, Leonita Sanders, Diana Wunderlich, Barbara Jacob, Joys Baird, Carol Carmean, and Nancy Eilers.
Birthday celebrant recognized for July was Susan Ray.
The Bible study was led by Dianna Gerland with the theme “Just L.I.F.E. (Liberation Is For Everyone; Just Truth.”
Correspondence included a letter from Lutherhill about making a donation for their Gala fundraiser on Sept. 11. We plan to donate 2 long twin quilts. Information was received from Lutheran World Relief that a pin could be ordered by those who make quilts and kits. The letter also listed the countries where quilts and kits were sent during 2020.
Under Mission Action, Diana W. reported that Dorothy and Ray Gene Rosenbaum had brought boxes of fabric from their neighbor for quilting projects. Quilting will be Monday, July 12. School kits for Lutheran World Relief are being collected during July and August.
Colette Wunderlich is working on the Thankoffering service.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the singing of the table prayer.
Hostesses were Sedalia Ullrich and Nancy Eilers.
Carmine 42 Club
The Carmine 42 Club met Wednesday, July 7 to play eight enjoyable games of 42 after eating a delicious lunch at JW’s Steakhouse.
The high scoring partners were Donna Mueller and Marlene Waak with a score of 1875 and played two hands of 84. The second place partners were LaVerne Albers and Jeanette Schoenst with a score of 1767. Other partners were Linda Mattocks and Carol Naegeli who played 2 hands of 84 and one 126 hand. Additional partners were Edith Flinn and Myrt Meinkowsky.
All players appreciated the exciting game challenges and look forward to the next game day in August.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the 9th Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on mllccarmine.com. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
